Dell expands enterprise virtualisation portfolio

Dell is expanding its portfolio with a range of servers, storage products and services designed to help SMEs and larger enterprises deploy systems more quickly.

The new offerings include new Dell PowerEdge servers and an EqualLogic PS4000 storage array as well as new planning services.

The hardware comes with pre-tested components and software so that, the company claims, the systems can be set up in hours rather than days.

“Large enterprises, small-to-medium sized business and public-sector organisations face common IT obstacles that impede their ability to efficiently assess, deploy and manage technology,” said Brad Anderson, senior vice president of Dell’s Enterprise Product Group.

From virtualisation to high performance computing clusters, customers are seeking standards-based technologies that improve efficiency while reducing costs.

With Dell, organisations benefit from a powerful, efficient and affordable portfolio of server, storage and virtualization products and services that help put them on the fast track to efficiency.”

The company is offering two new virtualisation systems, one designed for data centres looking to add capacity and the other for small businesses entering the virtualisation sphere for the first time.

Dell is also going after the high performance computing market with a new PowerEdge R410 server rack, which it says offers up to 80 percent performance improvement over previous models.
