David Barclay departs Data#3 for VMware role

David Barclay has resigned from Data#3 after more than a decade to take a new role at VMware as strategic partner development manager.

Barclay spent much of his career as the VMware lead at Data#3; his role was expanded to become national mobility practice manager, though he remained predominantly focused on the virtualisation vendor.

Andrew Fox, ‎director end user computing and Airwatch, at VMware, said: “David Barclay will be supporting strategic partner engagements for our end user computing line of business.

"In this role he will enable and support partners in successfully winning new customers and delivering digital workspace transformations.

"VMware has invested in this additional support for a handful of our key partners in this space – including Data#3 – and those partners have equally invested in empowering digital workspaces for our customers," Fox said.

Barclay posted on LinkedIn: "After 11 years at Data#3, I'll be soon handing back my badge. Great company and amazing culture - you'll be missed.

"Next stop: VMware. Look forward to kicking goals with the ANZ team starting next week."

Barclay joined Data#3 in 2006 and has held various roles at the Brisbane-headquartered IT solution provider, after previously working for Surety IT and hosting provider WebResource.

Data#3 is a VMware premier solution partner, the vendor's highest partner tier.
