Dataweave expands in Melbourne
The Sydney-headquartered company recently achieved Oracle Certified Advantage Business Partner status by investing in more staff and training and enhancing its service, support and resources.

Its client base in Victoria includes OfficeMax, Vanguard Investments and Victorian WorkCover Authority. The new offices are in St. Kilda Road, Melbourne.

The company has appointed Mike Turner as regional manager for the Southern Region and Phillip Brown as lead technical consultant.

Turner has 12 years experience with Oracle Applications. He will be responsible for driving Dataweave’s Oracle licence, consulting and support business development in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.

“The Victorian Government agencies have used Oracle Financials and Database for over a decade,” said Turner.

“They are now considering extending their ERP footprint into areas such as Oracle HRMS and Oracle Projects.

“Also, some of the newer Oracle acquisitions for Universal Content Management and Planning & Budgeting are gaining traction.

“Outside of government, the merger of some of the utilities is creating opportunities for a Shared Services model based upon the Oracle technologies.

“Underlying all of these initiatives is a growing need for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) that has the benefits of retaining legacy systems whilst enhancing integration and improving business process flows,” he added.

Turner was previously business development executive at ASG where he built the Perth-headquartered company’s Victorian Oracle business from scratch to a 22-person practice over a two-year period.

He also secured a position for ASG on the Victorian government’s eServices Panel.

Brown joins Dataweave from Opes Prime Stockbroking where he was senior business systems administrator with responsibility for installation, configuration and management of Oracle applications.

He previously worked for Oracle for eight years in a variety of roles, including principal specialist support engineer, principal support consultant and technical support specialist.

Prior to Oracle, Brown worked at Wilson Computer Services as a senior analyst programmer.

“Our ability to provide Australian organisations with Oracle’s award-winning solutions combined with our own application development excellence and strong technical support has been a winning formula for our success to date,” said Norman Weaver, managing director, Dataweave.

“We look forward to enhancing our presence in Victoria with the experience and knowledge that our two new appointments will bring to the organisation,” he added.
