Customers complain of chipped iPhone 5s

The aluminium finish on Apple's new iPhone 5 has been plagued by reports of chipping, with customers complaining of dents and scratches on the new back and side of the smartphone.

Customers who have purchased the new black iPhone 5 are reporting silver chips appearing on the anodised aluminium edges.

A source within a UK reputable network store stated that a number of customers have also returned the white iPhone 5 as a result of flaking in the white finish on the bottom rear of the device.

Apple is yet to comment on the complaints.

The company switched from the glass back seen in the iPhone 4 and 4S to predominantly anodised aluminium for the new model.
