CSA extends University of Newcastle partnership to develop digital platforms

CSA has extended its partnership with the University of Newcastle as part of its latest innovation drive.

As part of the new arrangement, the Newcastle-headquartered IT services firm will help the uni to develop and leverage strategic digital platforms by rapidly increasing the provision and adoption of digital services for staff and students.

The university didn't specify exactly what the two organisations would be working on, other than mentioning it would allow for ideation, automation and dynamic teaming.

CSA has partnered with the University of Newcastle for a number of years and in October last year, the IT provider won a managed service contract for monitoring and management services for the uni's central computing environment.

University of Newcastle CIO Anthony Molinia said the uni's IT Services division had shifted its focus to using technology as an "enabler of innovation" and aligned with its goal of driving regional impact.

"A key initiative of the strategy is scaling our team and refocusing our priorities. By developing strategic partnerships with external providers, we now have the time to focus on high-value outcomes for our clients and the University. This also has a positive outcome for developing our people and capability with both current and future industry skills,” Molinia said.

“By partnering with a leading technology provider, we are able to build localised IT capability that not only benefits IT Services, it also supports the development of community and local career paths for technology graduates at our university."

CSA chief executive Brett Woods said the company partnered with more than 70 percent of NSW universities, giving CSA valuable insight into the higher education sector.

“In addition to our ongoing managed services engagement with the University of Newcastle, we are also partnering with them to develop and leverage strategic digital platforms to drive innovation throughout their organisation. The successful partnership is rapidly increasing the provision and adoption of digital services across students, staff and resources to transform experiences and realise new value."
