Data protection specialist Commvault has announced the integration of Microsoft 365 Backup Storage into its Commvault Cloud Backup and Recovery for Microsoft 365 offering.

This new solution, built on Microsoft Azure, aims to deliver enhanced cyber resilience and recovery capabilities for Microsoft 365 workloads.

The integrated solution, known as Commvault Cloud with Premium Microsoft 365 Backup Storage, offers customers a unified control experience through a single-pane-of-glass interface for monitoring and administration via Commvault Cloud.

This simplifies management and promises a lower total cost of ownership for enterprises.

"We are building on our 27+ years of co-development and co-engineering with this integrated solution that helps customers achieve the highest level of cyber resilience and threat readiness, along with the ability to greatly improve recovery time to specific Microsoft 365 workloads," Tirthankar Chatterjee, chief technology officer for hyperscalers at Commvault explained.

The new offering provides comprehensive protection across Microsoft 365 applications, including Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint. It offers configurable extended retention, granular recovery, and self-restore options, allowing customers to tailor their protection and recovery strategies based on specific workload requirements.

"With this integration, Commvault has taken a major step in helping our joint customers keep their business running with fast operational recovery from cyberattacks," Zach Rosenfield, partner director of PM for collaborative apps and platforms at Microsoft,  said.

This solution will be available through the Microsoft Azure Marketplace which simplifies procurement and deployment processes, potentially streamlining sales cycles for channel partners.

Commvault Cloud Backup and Recovery for Microsoft 365 is expected to be available later this quarter, opening up new avenues for partners to expand service offerings and to address evolving data protection needs of their customers.

Commvault became Infosec Registered Assesor Program (IRAP) certified in October last year, allowing government agencies to adopt the vendor's products.
