With over $35 million in contracts awarded so far, the Department of Finance has revealed the 20 new panellists that will join the cloud services panel.

Sydney-based hosting provider CloudRecover, CDM, 2016 CRN Fast50 No. 5 Correct Communications, Nextgen Connect, NTT Com and Vault Systems are among the recently added suppliers.

The Department of Finance sought new panellists through AusTender in June 2016. Software-as-a-service, platform-as-a-service, infrastructure-as-a-service and specialist cloud services are some of the services government agencies can seek through the panel.

A spokesperson for the department told CRN: "The current refresh of the Cloud Services Panel is likely to add about 100 additional suppliers and hundreds of additional services to the panel. The streamlining of the Cloud Services Panel service catalogue to make selling easier for vendors and buying easier for procurement officials has also been a considerable enhancement."

The panel was first announced in February 2015, replacing the data centre-as-a-service list that was being used since 2012 to procure cloud services. Currently, there are 128 suppliers on the list.

Anthony Woodward, chief executive of Bulletproof, who joined the panel in March 2015, told CRN the panel had been a success from the publicly listed cloud solutions provider's perspective.

"As government continues to embrace and move towards public cloud, Bulletproof’s appearance on the panel remains more relevant than ever, and our proven track record, strong partnerships and expertise across a range of public and private cloud options and multi-cloud approach to our offering differentiates us well among the other panellists," he said.

Woodward believes the existence of the panel encourages government agencies to adopt cloud solutions.

Mobilise IT national sales director Michael Cefai told CRN the company had been working in the Federal government space and had developed a "good foothold" in Canberra, with a couple of wins in the back of the panel.

"We are quite happy with the progress we've had. And we are putting resources into Canberra in the back of the panel," Cefai added.

Mobilise IT has been part of the panel for about six months.

"Canberra has a long sales cycle. Large players don't have the capacity to do it themselves so, from a mobile management services provider perspective, they project they have the capacity and then end up sub-contracting providers," Cefai said.
