Cloud services provider CT4 is on the hunt for a site to house a new cybersecurity centre as it looks to expand its Digital Apprentice program.
The company is looking to partner with a state government and a tertiary education provider as part of its quest, like the first centre launched in Ballarat, Victoria earlier this year.
Potential targets were narrowed down to ten regional centres: Albury-Wodonga, Bathurst, Mount Gambier, Hobart, Cairns, Townsville, Toowoomba, Mackay, Gladstone and Tamworth.
In June 2019, CT4 relocated from Queensland to Ballarat, Victoria, while also launching its first global cyber centre, which is set to open later this year. The company teamed up with the Victorian state government and Federation University.
CT4 at the time said it expects the centre will bring more than 60 jobs to the region, including work experience through its Digital Apprentices IT traineeship program. The training will focus on cyber security, software-defined networking, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Chief executive Dan Pearson said that a broader employee market is set to benefit from the cyber training, not just recent graduates and reskilling job hunters, highlighting the growing number of women joining the program.
“I see the cyber industry critically lacking in diversity and we as a company are working to close the growing gender gap in IT,” he said.
“We see this as an opportunity to provide anyone of any gender or background - especially those in regional Australia - with the opportunity to enter the booming IT industry and create readiness for long term employment locally and nationally.”
