Co-founded by Suhit Anantula and Richard Surace, the Nova Navigator is geared towards Cloud Computing, Software as a Service (SaaS) and Web 2.0 applications.
A cloud computer is a combination of a hardware device and software services delivered through the Internet (broadband connection).
The Nova Navigator is connected to a monitor, keyboard and mouse then through an Internet connection, the operating system, applications and storage will be delivered.
According to Anantula, managing director, (pictured), the Navigator has Firefox browser, Skype, Media Player, Notepad, Paint and other apps on the local desktop with Office apps provided through the cloud (server).
This can be extended to any apps that customers need to run through the server.
“Navigator will be a completely managed computing solution. We will be providing a "no virus, no spyware and no maintenance" solution with complete technical support,” said Anantula.
“Due to the ability to update and manage apps and the computer remotely we can provide continuous upgrades making these computers future smart.”
TechNovus is targeting consumers, SMEs and educational institutions to buy its product.
Anantula said TechNovus was inviting innovative partners in A/NZ and Oceania who want to capitalize on this new wave of computing solutions.
He said resellers can earn a margin of between 10-15 percent if they sell the product but the details were yet to be finalised.
The Navigator will be launched in India first and it is in negotiations with Microsoft in Australia so that when it switches to time-based licences to popular apps like Microsoft Office customers can buy a 30-day or 60-day licence to Microsoft Office software.
The hardware is expected to cost between $199-$249, plus a monthly subscription of $15 to $20 per month.
