Citrix VP quits
Citrix's Australia/New Zealand vice president Gary O’Brien has quit after six years with the vendor.

O’Brien joined Citrix in July of 2000, starting as marketing director for the Asia Pacific region and was made Citrix area (Australia/New Zealand) vice president in mid 2003.

He told CRN: “I’ve been in IT for 30 years and the last six years were spent at Citrix. I was at IBM for 23 years, although I want to wind back, I don’t want to fully leave the industry,” he said.

“I’m looking for a part-time consulting role or looking to sit on a board. At this stage I have nothing solid but I have had several offers in IT. My main concern is that I don’t want any full-time positions.”

Although O’Brien was scheduled to leave Citrix on 30 June, his replacement Karl Liebman, former senior director corporate consulting and education at Citrix, has already taken over his duties.

“I’m in a transition period and offering advice to Karl. Mostly I’m sitting back and enjoying recreational activities,” he said.
