The Victorian Government has signed Citrix Systems to a five million dollar contract to supply all departments with Citrix’s Presentation Server product and services.
As part of the governement's ongoing plans for an 'e-government vision', Citrix Systems will deliver services to all departments and give staff access to forms, data and information under one system.
Gary O’Brien, Citrix Systems area vice president Australia and New Zealand said the Victorian Government was looking for ways to improve its delivery of services to citizens and increase end-user satisfaction and productivity.
“With so many desktops and devices throughout the Victorian Government we are able to offer a solution that simplifies IT management and provides user experience regardless of which office or network employees are working from.”
Also as part of the government's initiative to improve all government interactions with all Victorians, it plans to coordinate and integrate services and information from local and federal governments, and the private sector.
“We are aiming to make communication and dealings with the government more convenient and simpler for citizens,” said Jane Treadwell, Victorian Government CIO.
E-government has the potential to reduce service delivery costs, eliminate unnecessary duplication and in some cases make it possible to meet emerging needs without restructuring agencies or programs.
