Christopher Pyne opens Greenbox IT lifecycle services facility in Canberra

Technology lifecycle solution provider Greenbox Systems has formally launched the Canberra IT Commissioning Centre, an IT lifecycle services facility specifically designed for government and defence sectors.

Launched this morning by defence minister Christopher Pyne, the facility provides Greenbox with a new location to manage its government customers’ IT assets throughout their entire lifecycle, from pre-deployment and installation, through to data cleansing and correct disposal.

The Canberra facility marks Greenbox’s fourth metropolitan location, already having sites in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. The operation in Canberra will provide large-scale IT services backed by numerous defence and security standards, and to be carried out by a 25-strong team of security-cleared specialists.

The centre will be a 1500 square metre facility able to hold 1500 pallets of equipment and operate 800 machines simultaneously.

Greenbox chief executive Shane Mulholland said the facility addressed the need for specialist IT lifecycle services in the secure government sector.

“Our emphasis on the secure management of sensitive IT assets from imaging to disposal of extremely-sensitive data has generated significant interest for our services in Canberra,” he said.

“We previously delivered these services via our Sydney facility, however, the proliferation in both devices and data, as well as an increase in market demand made it clear we needed a dedicated site to service the nation’s capital.

“The new facility is the largest IT lifecycle service centre in Australia, allowing us to deliver to the needs of large and security-sensitive organisations.

“For Canberra clients, Greenbox reduces the costs and risks around the IT chain of custody. Having a local facility means that we are highly responsive and can manage all logistics and transportation in-house to the highest security standards.”

Defence minister Pyne said: “This centre provides defence and federal government with secure large-scale IT lifecycle services backed by defence standards, the International Standards Organisation and responsible recycling accreditations.”
