Australia’s new securities exchange Chi-X will move into Equinix and Global Switch data centres in preparation for its launch at the end of the year.
The Japanese exchange won a market licence from the Federal Government last week, after receiving in-principle approval in March last year.
It planned to establish its primary data centre in Equinix’s International Business Exchange (IBX), which also housed trading service providers Deutsche Börse and Transaction Network Services.
Chi-X’s alternate facility would be housed in managed service provider Access Networks’ dedicated 133 kilowatt suite within the nearby Global Switch data centre.
Announcing the deal with Equinix last month, Chi-X Australia chief operating officer Peter Fowler said it would begin working with market participants to fix proximity hosting and network connectivity requirements.
Access Networks today said it would offer Chi-X participants connectivity to “all of the major domestic and international carriers” from the facility.
