Yasui said it was a great honour to receive The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon.
“This award is really thanks to all the continuing support given to us by our valued business colleagues in local economic organisations, and the sewing machine and business machine industries,” said Yasui.
“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to you all for extending us years of kind cooperation.”
According to Yasui, Brother began as a sewing machine repair shop and, over time, has shifted its core business to information and communications equipment.
“Through our first 100 years, we have succeeded as a business by dedicating ourselves to excellence in manufacturing,” he said.
“As an engineer, it has been my great pleasure to engage in technological development at Brother, creating products and services with superior value for our customers.
“Brother was first able to achieve the dream by changing Japan’s sewing machine business from an import- to an export-based industry.”
According to Yasui, since then it has further strengthened its sewing machine business while also expanding its information and communications business globally, and implemented core changes to the Brother Group’s business structure.
