Queensland Airport Limited (QAL) has selected Queensland-based systems integrator Flexdata Solutions to install wi-fi and location analytics solution.
Four Queensland airports had Cisco Meraki Wireless and UK-based software company Purple's wi-fi solution installed. As a result, QAL now has insights into its passengers and guest traffic in and around the Gold Coast, Townsville, Mount ISA and Longreach airports.
Beau Tydd, general manager for people and technology at QAL, said: "Feedback from our customers indicated that a reliable, secure and fast free wi-fi service topped the list of their desired service offering. By utilising our partner’s expertise and implanting an innovative solution, QAL has implemented the fastest free wi-fi in any airport in Australia.
"Flexdata Solutions and Purple ticked every box throughout the open market evaluation process," Tydd added.
Through Purple's location analytics reports, QAL has been able to improve the user experience in its terminals by accessing passenger queues and dwell times and reducing wait time in key zones.
The solution also enables the business to distribute targeted marketing campaigns to airport travellers in real time. Purple’s wi-fi solution unlocks data about users as they login via a form or their social profiles, which, according to the company, might include name, age, location, interests, email address and telephone number.
QAL has access to the Purple Portal where it can access reports on repeat versus new visitors, most common visitor origin, number of visitors, type of device used, time spent in the premises, time of visit, key engagement metrics and more.
Flexdata partners with Cisco, Cisco Meraki, VMware, Veeam, NetApp and SilverPeak. In February 2016, Flexdata was named Veeam's rising star ProPartner of the year for Australia and New Zealand.
