Brisbane AWS Advanced Technology Partner CloudMGR has been acquired by US cloud management vendor Cloudability.
CloudMGR offers a suite of optimisation and management tools for AWS users. This includes billing and cost management, scheduling and automation, resource optimisation and disaster recovery management, all of which can be monitored through a single dashboard. The product is distributed in Australia through Arrow.
The company was founded in 2013 by Craig Deveson, who founded Brisbane Google apps Developer Devnet. He sold Devnet to Cloud Sherpas in 2011, which was acquired by Accenture in 2015. Deveson will join Cloudability as general manager of Australia and New Zealand after the acquisition.
Cloudability is also an AWS partner that specialises in cloud management tools that allow customers to manage cloud spend across departments, products and infrastructure.
The Oregan-based vendor has been working with Australian customers since 2012 and boasts such big-name clients as Atlassian and Tab Corp. CloudMGR marks the fifth acquisition for Cloudability, and its first in Australia.
Chief executive Mat Ellis suggested that CloudMGR's features could show up in future Cloudability product releases.
"Joining forces with CloudMGR allows us to better serve both our existing customer base as well as the ever-growing number of companies adopting the cloud in Australia and New Zealand," said Ellis.
"We are big believers in automation. We will incorporate their expertise in this area to improve upon our solutions relating to data-driven automation."
