Managed services provider Brennan IT has inked a deal to use the Sydney and US data centres of Equinix as it eyes expansion into global markets.

Brennan IT’s two home-grown data centres in Sydney and Queensland’s Fortitude Valley will remain operational, a company spokesman said, but purchasing dedicated space at Equinix’s Sydney facility proved a better option than building a third data centre to meet future capacity demands.

“We wanted an A-grade provider with first-class facilities with the highest uptimes, stability, redundancy and performance. As one of the largest facilities in Sydney, Equinix emerged as the obvious choice,” managing director Dave Stevens said in a statement.

Brennan IT’s infrastructure revenue grew by over 100 percent for the financial year 10/11 and the company is predicting a similar rate of growth this year. Stevens said an increasing number of partners were expanding into global markets.

Brennan IT plans to use Equinix's large network of data centres across the US and - further down the track - Equinix facilities in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.

The company confirmed Australian customers would retain control over where their data is stored.

Brennan IT has installed Cisco USC B series servers, Nexus 5Ks switches, ASR 9Ks routers, and EMC VNX SANs in Equinix’s Sydney facility.

Expanding the company's data centre capacity had been under consideration since October 2011.
