Nisus Australia, a Canberra-based ICT contractor and technology consulting firm working with government agencies and local tech businesses, has been acquired by WA-headquartered Braiin.
Braiin is a global AI platform, operating across seven countries, and its recent NASDAQ listing saw it reach an approximate market capitalisation of US$1.6 billion (A$2.2 billion) as of last week.
Nisus has been built within Canberra’s government ecosystem and has supported around 30 government and private organisations. The company has a team of over 40 staff, including ICT contractors supporting government and enterprise clients.
Among the consulting services offered by Nisus are ICT governance and strategy advisory; IT procurement and tender evaluation; data analysis and data science; solution design and architecture; and cyber security services, including risk assessments, iRAP assessment, vulnerability management and incident response.
Nisus will continue to operate as a standalone business under its existing brand in Australia, maintaining its current team and operating model, and there is no change to the leadership team or staff, with founder Sean Ni to continue to lead Nisus as CEO.
Ni said that the company will benefit from being part of the broader Braiin platform, particularly in terms of access to global AI capability, technology and scale.
"It’s an exciting and significant milestone - not just for Nisus, but as an example of how Canberra-built ICT businesses can scale onto the global stage," he told techpartner.news.
"We’ve built Nisus steadily into a trust and relationship-driven business with a strong footprint across government clients. Partnering with Braiin is a natural next step - not out of necessity, but the opportunity to scale."
Ni explained that the acquisition also reflects a broader shift in the market, where high-quality ICT delivery capability is increasingly being combined with global AI platforms.
"Being part of Braiin puts us in a position to take what we’ve built locally and connect it into a global platform - bringing the scale, capital and technology needed to grow further, particularly as AI adoption accelerates in government and regulated environments," he said.
Braiin’s CEO, Natraj Balasubramanian, said the company's delivery of automation and predictive analytics across sectors such as agriculture technology, CX and PropTech translates for Nisus clients into access to AI-enabled solutions, global expertise, and additional delivery capacity — integrated in a way that complements our existing services.
“What’s particularly exciting is the ability to layer AI into traditionally manual workflows — from predictive maintenance to intelligent customer interactions — helping clients move from reactive operations to more proactive, data-driven decision making," he said.
“It also allows us to scale faster by combining Nisus’s strong local execution with Braiin’s global AI capabilities, delivering smarter, more efficient outcomes for our clients.”
The transaction value was undisclosed.
