The announcement follows Bitdefender's recent push into the lucrative SMB market. BitDefender claims its new Online Backup service will offer customers a secure offsite storage solution for business-critical data. According to the vendors, the service will use minimal bandwith as user data is compressed, with only binary file changes backed up across a global network of datacenters owned by SOS.
Vince Hwang, director of product management at BitDefender, said the company was continuing to seek new customers by expanding beyond security threat prevention.
“At BitDefender, we are focused on proactive protection. Under this vision, proactive protection goes beyond just security. It also considers the integrity of the data," he said.
"By working with SOS Online Backup, not only do we offer our customers an industry leading proactive security solution, but also integrated continuous real-time backup of any file that offers peace of mind from data loss that can occur from internet threats, system failures, and unforeseen disasters.”
The online backup service will be available to home, small business and enterprise customers. Business users will be able to choose between a standalone or integrated product, with flexible storage capacities and support for unlimited users available for each offering.
