The communications solution provider has launched Avaya Unified Communications for remote workers and branch offices to address the challenges faced by expanding Australian businesses. To coincide with the release, the vendor is also offering Avaya one-X™ Communicator, a new unified communications client application that provides access to various communications tools through a single interface.
“Today, Avaya is introducing unified communications solutions that solve real-business problems and drive customer loyalty,” said Jorge Blanco, vice president Communications Solutions, Avaya.
According to Avaya, the boundaries of Australian businesses are being constantly redefined, which creates demand for a unified communications solution focused on external employees. Carlton Taya, managing director, Avaya South Pacific commented on the added benefit of retaining staff as the ICT skills shortage in Australia intensifies.
"Providing flexible working options is a key ingredient to recruiting and retaining staff, especially with Australia's skills shortage,” he said. “Staff who need to work from home for any number of reasons, will be able to operate as if they're in the office. The flexibility this can offer to Australian businesses that are based across distances, for example, is enormous.”
Featuring video conferencing, instant messaging and real-time telepresence, Avaya claimed the offering is affordable – equating to 15 cents per day per employee. Taya explained that it is designed to consolidate network communications to improve the bottom line of Australian businesses.
Avaya one-X™ Communicator application complements the Avaya Unified Communications offering, claimed the vendor. It provides telephony features, desktop video, visual voicemail, rich presence, email and instant messaging, conference bridge integration, directories and contact history via a single interface.
“Avaya one-X Communicator offers a highly flexible, powerful solution for businesses and employees,” said Mary Dunlop, vice president Unified Communications Product Management, Avaya. “A single desktop application brings the workforce together and allows users to make more accurate, effective choices for how they communicate at any given time.”
