Australian fashion retailer Forever New has recalled a range of portable power bank iPhone chargers due to a fire risk.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission announced that the "Hollie Heart Power Bank TE0635 Dusk Blue" and "Hollie Heart Power Bank TE0635 Hot Pink" phone chargers are to be recalled as the batteries may have a "manufacturing defect" and could overheat.
"The batteries may overheat and, in the worst case scenario, could pose a fire hazard," stated the recall notice.
The power banks were designed as heart-shaped fashion accessories and were sold nationally. The ACCC stated consumers should stop using the devices immediately, not connect to any electricity supply, and return the items to a Forever New store for a full refund.
Forever New is a women's clothing and fashion accessories chain started in Melbourne seven years ago. The company now has over 250 retail outlets in nine countries.
The ACCC's notice follows a series of power cord recalls by Lenovo, Toshiba and HP in the last six months.
