Australian resellers to get HP Helion in November

HP will begin rolling out its new Helion cloud portfolio to Australian resellers from November, the vendor has confirmed to CRN.

This will include HP's new Helion OpenStack services and HP PartnerOne for Cloud program, announced earlier this year in a major revamp of the vendor's cloud portfolio. The vendor is spending US$1 billion on cloud initiatives globally.

From November, partners will be able to resell as well as install and configure CloudSystem solutions based on OpenStack, said Aman Neil Dokania, vice president and general manager of Cloud Division for HP Asia Pacific and Japan.

Dokania also confirmed that Helion will be delivered in Australia from the HP Aurora Data Centre in Sydney, though wouldn't confirm at this stage if or how many other local data centres would be used.

While HP has at least 80 data centres in 27 countries, Helion OpenStack will be initially delivered via 20 of these facilities over the next 18 months.

Both HP and partner data centre networks will be used to deliver Helion OpenStack services, Dokania said. Public, private and hosted cloud delivery models will be used.

While Dokania wouldn't name local PartnerOne for Cloud members, he said the vendor has more than 40 partners in the Asia Pacific region. Cloud partners include NTT Communications, Oriel Technologies, Tasmanet, Brennan IT, Downs Micro Systems, NEC Australia and Managed System Services (MSS).

He said HP has more than 20 cloud service providers in Asia Pacific, including SingTel and Hong Kong Telecom.

Dokania said opportunities for channel partners will include cloud, big data, security and software-defined networking.
