Asus reveals Eee Pad Transformer Prime HD

Asus' Transformer Prime isn't even out in the UK yet and it's already been superseded by a newer, more high-end model that comes fully loaded with a full 1080p HD display.

While speculation pointed to a CES unveiling of a 7in version of the Transformer Prime – dubbed the Transformer Mini – Asus has been showing off a brand new high-def version of its Tegra 3, quad-core toting hybrid tab, complete with a 10.1in WUXGA full HD 1920 x 1080 screen.

Rather than come complete with a brand new set of specs, the TF700T – as it is officially known - is identical to the current Transformer Prime in the specs department. It's designed for those who want a much crisper viewing experience and want to consume full HD content on the move. So, it's essentially just a higher end option for those who like their gadgets to come with a side serving of premium.

A noticeable cosmetic change to the back panel apparently means enhanced performance for WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.

And what about a 7in version? It turns out Asus never planned to launch a dinky version of its powerful netbook killer. Speculation started when Asus' database was hacked and images of the MemMo 370T – a 7in Android tab that won't be launching in the UK – were found. All it took was a shrunken image of the 10in keyboard dock and thus, a rumour was born, spreading across the web like wildfire. Bad news for those holding out.
