The Bureau of Meteorology has tapped Melbourne-based consulting firm Araza for temporary personnel over a two-year period.
The contract notice for the deal (registration required) says the Bureau paid $1.77 million for a "Test Analyst". It is unclear if that is a single worker, or a team of workers.
A Bureau spokesperson declined to provide more details of the contract, citing operational and security reasons.
“The Bureau of Meteorology has a significant program of work underway to continue improving its ICT security and resilience, in order to enhance the delivery [of] our services to the Australian community now and into the future,” the spokesperson said.
Tender documents reveal Araza was chosen from the Digital Transformation Agency’s Digital Marketplace Panel, which covers both computer services and personnel recruitment.
Araza has appeared on the CRN Fast 50 since 2016, debuting at No. 3 that year. The company has disclosed in the past it has “worked on a few projects” with the Bureau of Meteorology, as well as other federal government departments.
The contract runs from January 2020 to January 2022.
