Apple will reportedly begin trial production of a new version of its iPhone in December, barely three months after it debuted the latest version of popular smartphone.
The iPhone 5S is set to enter mass production in the first quarter of 2013, according to a report by China's Commercial Times. The report says Apple will initially release around 50,000 to 100,000 units.
It added that Apple will release a version of its iPad a quarter later than the iPhone 5S.
Apple released its latest-generation iPhone 5 in mid-September, breaking internal records for initial shipments of the smartphone, but disappointing analysts.
It shipped 5 million iPhone 5s in nine countries in the first weekend of sale, but failed to meet analysts's expectations of an initial 10 million shipped.
