Apple has reportedly created a secret team to investigate changes to the App Store.
Bloomberg has reported that the team is looking at following Google’s lead with a paid search model.
Under this plan, developers would pay Apple to have their app appear at the top of search results.
Apple declined to comment on the story, but Bloomberg said the research team has about 100 staff – including many engineers from Apple’s advertising group, iAd.
The team is reportedly being led by Apple vice-president Todd Teresi, who led iAd.
It is not known when any changes would be introduced.
