App developer saves Henley Properties from paperwork 'nightmare'

Vertical Matters, a Melbourne-based workforce mobilty provider, has landed a contract with housing giant Henley Properties Group to replace its paper-based form processing systems.

The contract sees Henley Properties’ field staff switch from using of paper-based Occupational Health and Safety and inspection reports to a digital system using smartphones.

Henley Properties chief information officer Jeremy Bree said that company had been struggling with a chaotic onsite, paper-based form system at the time it started deal working with Vertical Matters late last year.

“Our workforce is located all over Australia, so it was a logistical nightmare collating all of our OHS Inspection Reports. Not only do the reports get processed immediately via the cloud, we can capture feature-rich content like photos and the guys in the field are able to spend more time on doing what they do best,” Bree said.

Vertical Matters said the construction sector’s heavily regulated nature and ageing paper-based information sharing methods nature made it an ideal target for disruptive mobile applications.

Vertical co-founder Courtney Smith said: “It’s a simple equation really. With our mobile technology, it can cut out the processes of printing up the forms, transporting them onsite, locating biros, taking them back to base, getting them processed in the system and keeping them stored in a filing cabinet”.

The two companies said that they planned to formally announce and reveal further details of the digitisation project at a technology event later this month.

Last year, Vertical Matters was in the news for signing up the likes of elevator maker Kone and contract mining company Thiess as customers in its first year in the market.
