Amber Tech veteran spins channel role

After 12 years with AV distributor, Amber Technology, Rod Sommerich has been appointed channel manager for European digital signage vendor, SpinetiX.

Sommerich told CRN the decision to take up the role wasn't "taken lightly".

"I was the product manager for the vendor, at Amber, for the past 12 months," he said.

"When the role was offered I had to take in not only leaving the distie but also living overseas."

Sommerich said he finishes up at Amber on the 25 August. He has then planned to head over to SpinetiX's factory in Switzerland for the next couple of weeks.

"When I come back I have been tasked with looking after Asia and other parts of the world.

"It's not going to be easy but I am looking forward to it." 

Amber Technology will continue to distribute the products for the local region, said Sommerich.

Amber Technology has appointed Andrew Shearer to replace Sommerich as product manager and he will take over his responsibilities as soon as possible. 

Shearer comes to Amber from NEC where he was the product manager.
