Altech website hacked
The page went back up on Sunday night.

Australian distributor Altech Computers fell victim to a hacking attack on Sunday after attackers gained access to a page on the company’s website and uploaded images of a pornographic nature.

The distributor’s ‘product news’ page went down Sunday for the entire day and played host to three separate images depicting acts of a sexual nature in animation form.

The web page went back up last night. Altech said it was still investigating the cause of the attack.

It told CRN only the product news page was affected, in what it called a ‘surface’ attack on its website.

“It’s not too serious, it’s just the surface part of our website which doesn’t affect any other software, it’s very easy to fix," a spokesperson said.

Altech said it had upped the security of the system as a result. It said no-one browsing to the page had been affected, and it expected to have information on the origin of the attack in the coming days.
