UK-based security vendor BullGuard has recruited Altech to distribute its retail and OEM Internet security software.
BullGuard 7.0 is an Internet security package designed for home and small-business users and includes anti-virus and spyware protection, spam filter, firewall and technical support.
For home users, the package comes with a three user license per box and is available in three versions including a 'retail box' (DVD case within), 'OEM CD' (10 pack) and a 90-day free trial pack.
Kevin Hartin, marketing manager at Altech said the distributor was approached by BullGuard to sell its products at CeBit in May.
“We have never had direct relationships with [software vendors] in the past, although we have been sub-disties for one or two security software vendors.
“The OEM agreement with BullGuard clinched the deal because we can pre-install BullGuard Internet Security on to our own range of hardware products,” he said.
James Rhodes, territory manager A/NZ at BullGuard said the software package is sold to end users on a 12-month licensing agreement.
“All resellers will come under the distributor’s channel program. However BullGuard is offering all resellers 25 percent of the cost on every renewal for any of the three versions their customers buy. Distributors will make 15 percent on those renewals,” he said.
Also of interest to Altech is BullGuard’s SteelSecurity anti-virus for gamers.
This product disables real-time scanning when connected to approved Internet
game servers, said Hartin.
Altech will also have first run of BullGuard’s latest mobile security kit, Mobile Antivirus. The product protects smart phones and PDAs from Blutetooth spammers, he said.
BullGuard signed an OEM agreement with Optima in September. The vendor also distributes through Tecksel and Impact Systems.
“The difference with Altech and the other distributors is that it has a much larger distributor with offices Australia wide,” said Rhodes.
