Akamai sees Australian internet speeds grow

Akamai Technologies has released its 'State of the Internet' report for the fourth quarter of 2013.

Australia's average peak and non-peak connection speeds have grown, according to the report, based on data collected by the cloud-service vendor.

Average connection speeds rose 8 percent quarter-over-quarter to 5.8Mbs while average peak connection speeds grew 17 percent quarter-over-quarter to 35.2Mbs.

The report also found that Australia's overall broadband connectivity has risen 36 percent over the past year.

Akamai partners with some of the biggest names in tech - such as Apple, Adobe and AMD – and made headlines late last year when it acquired cloud security specialist Prolexic Technologies for $370 million.
