Cloud security specialist Akamai announced a strategic partnership with IT infrastructure provider Kyndryl to strengthen cyber protection services for businesses facing mounting digital threats.
The new service offering involves Zero Trust Segmentation, which aims to prevent lateral movement of threats within organisations' IT infrastructure while implementing robust authentication methods and real-time access policies.
It is s part of the broader Zero Trust security model, which assumes that every user, device, and system is potentially compromised, so access to network resources is granted only on a strictly need-to-know basis and continuously verified.
The collaboration centres on delivering micro-segmentation implementation services through Akamai's Guardicore Segmentation platform, addressing growing concerns about network vulnerability
"We're dedicated to helping customers navigate their ever-evolving cybersecurity challenges and security requirements," James Carrigan US security and resiliency practice leader at Kyndryl said.
Recent research by Akamai revealed a 143 per cent surge in global ransomware attacks linked to zero-day and one-day vulnerabilities.
The study highlighted that 93 per cent of respondents consider micro-segmentation crucial for preventing ransomware attacks.
"One of the reasons security has grown to be the largest revenue driver for Akamai is because of dedicated service providers like Kyndryl," said Nathan Perdue, vice president of global sales enterprise security at Akamai.
Kyndryl teams worldwide received certification under the Guardicore certified Service Provider programme to implement and manage these enhanced security services.
