AIIA recruits new chief out of NICTA
Rob Fitzpatrick

Industry group Australian Information Industry Association has appointed Data61 director Rob Fitzpatrick to replace Suzanne Campbell as chief executive.

“Rob was chosen in a competitive, global six-month executive search process from a strong field of local and international candidates,” said AIIA chairperson Kee Wong.

Former Telstra veteran Campbell had held the top job at AIIA for four and a half years.

“I wish Rob every possible success as he leads the AIIA into its next phase and I want to personally thank our members and my fantastic team who all work so hard to make the AIIA what it is,” she said.

Fitzpatrick comes to AIIA from his previous post as infrastructure, transport & logistics director at Data61, formerly known as NICTA. He was also an executive at ShopFast.com.au, and currently is a non-executive director with Meat and Livestock Australia and Australia’s Academic and Research Network (AARNet).

“It was Mr Fitzpatrick’s unique combination of national and international technology experience across a 20-year period, along with his track record working with member-based organisations that makes him the ideal candidate to lead the AIIA into the future,” said Wong.
