Canberra-headquartered AI and machine learning firm Trellis Data has opened a new office in Adelaide's CBD.
The company develops secure, disconnected AI applications for the government and defence sectors through the use of technologies like generative AI, transcription, translation and computer vision.
Trellis Data partners with software and deep-tech firms to deliver AI technology via its Trellis Intelligence Platform (TIP) - a no-code, multi-role solution that uses AI models to transcribe audio, identify keywords and translate data into multiple languages.
The move to the new office in Adelaide CBD's comes as Trellis Data plans to grow its team by 300 to 500 staff over the next five years.
The company said the Adelaide move is expected to inject over $100 million into the South Australian economy and boost its emerging tech industry.
“We've spoken to many CEOs and continue to hear the same thing: that integrating sensitive data is of the utmost importance," Trellis Data's VP Mark Ryan said.
"There are many agencies looking to leverage the latest AI technologies, but they want to ensure they maintain control of their data and don't see it go abroad."
"Australian businesses must fiercely protect their intellectual property and Trellis Data is at the forefront of providing industry-leading, secure AI solutions.”
In addition to Canberra and Sydney, Trellis Data has an office in Sydney and in April 2023 opened a location in Arlington, Virginia.
“We know the government is looking for local solutions that meet their changing needs and Trellis Data is ideally positioned to help," Ryan said.
"Crucially, investing in a local partner will yield huge returns in the future, upskilling local talent and developing an AI sector that can play a leading role on the global stage."
"We are very excited about the future of this new office, continuing to advance the AI industry locally and contributing to the local South Australian economy and tech community."
