Starting business in a Port Adelaide, South Australia, living room, Blue Crystal Solutions (BCS) is now celebrating 20 years in the IT business.
The company was founded by Vito Rinaldi who is its managing director, after building experience at EDS in Adelaide as a database administrator and management information team manager.
Rinaldi and then business partner Cathryn Ayliffe started Blue Crystal Solutions from the living room of his house, and the company has since then grown considerably.
BCS has expanded from Oracle database management into providing comprehensive IT solutions nationwide, and which also has clients outside Australia, in London, Singapore and New Zealand.
It has over 60 staff currently, in five locations across Australia.
The company now boasts thousands of databases, servers and applicaitons under support, more than 60 contracts actively under management, over 30 cloud projects delivered, and three major technology partners.
On top of managing all varities of databases, BCS also handles operating systems, AWS, Microsoft, and Linux, with local consultants.
Australian clients are located in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, and Canberra.
In 2021, BCS made the South Australian government's $300 million hosted services panel, along with 13 other companies.
On top of running BCS, Rinaldi, his wife Anya and their three daughters are dedicated to supporting women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
BCS is commited to fostering an inclusive enviroment that embraces diversity, especially to encourage women to pursue STEM careers.
"Supporting my community with career paths in STEM is not just a professional commitment for me; it's personal," Rinaldi said.
"I want my daughters and all young women to see technology as 100 per cent a field where they can thrive and make significant contributions," Rinaldi added.
Rinaldi also serves as a board director of the Australian Industry Information Association (AIIA) and sees it as his mission to represent small to medium sized organisations at local, state and federal government levels.
