Accenture gets $2 million to support the ATO's Cisco rollout of telephony upgrades

Accenture has been selected by the Australian Taxation Office to assist in the upgrade of its telephony and contact centre platforms to a new unified communications platform.

The ATO is working with Cisco to replace its existing platform from Genband with a modern unified communications platform, which involves some changes in existing systems to make them work in the new environment.

The $2 million deal involves the hiring of a number of Accenture consultants, specifically a program manager, telephony subject matter expert and a project manager to provide systems integration services, integration with existing or upgraded contact centre applications, and business integration services.

“The ATO is in the process of modernising its telephony and contact centre platforms as a number of these core telephony products are nearing end of life,” an ATO spokesperson told CRN.

“The Telephony Refresh Program will upgrade or replace these products with a modern telephony solution to provide reliable telephony services for both clients and staff.”

Accenture was selected following a request for quotation filed by the ATO via the ICT Professional Services Panel, based on its competitive pricing and the technical skills or resources offered.

In February, the ATO started a refresh of its IT hardware and software systems following major storage area network outages that crippled the department’s online systems in 2016.
