ASX-listed 4DS Memory Limited has appointed Jaspal Sarai as managing director and chief executive officer, concurrent with the completion of its acquisition of Melbourne-based Jenesys.
Sarai is the founder and chief executive of Jenesys, whose edge-AI software for autonomous systems 4DS announced it would acquire at the end of August 2026. The appointment links the leadership of the target business directly to the enlarged group.
4DS develops Interface Switching ReRAM, a non-volatile memory technology for AI and compute-intensive applications protected by 34 US patents. The company said the Jenesys acquisition combines that memory technology with autonomy software aimed at defence and commercial edge-AI markets.
Since 2009, Sarai has led Source Central Partners, a Melbourne-based managed IT services, cybersecurity and application development provider serving the retail, transport, education and government sectors across Australia and New Zealand.
In 2014 he founded Jaarvis, a technology innovation business with teams in Australia, India and Hong Kong, which also ran an accelerator that mentored and seed-funded early-stage IoT and fintech companies.
From 2022 to November 2025, Sarai was a founding investor in and strategic adviser to Akula Tech, an Australian space and defence technology company. Akula conducted a drone-swarm research project with UNSW supported by Defence Trailblazer, and launched Nexus-01, an AI-enabled hyperspectral satellite, in August 2025.
"Jaspal brings more than 25 years of experience building technology businesses," said David McAuliffe, executive chairman at 4DS.
"He is the ideal leader to take 4DS into potential commercial growth, and as a 4DS shareholder his interests are aligned with those of our shareholders."
"Edge-AI is changing how machines detect, decide and work together in defence and in commercial settings," Sarai said.
"By combining 4DS's memory technology with Jenesys' autonomy software, we have the opportunity to build a leadership position in this market."
