Long time SAS ANZ boss David Bowie departs
30 March
The long time ANZ boss of analytics software vendor SAS David Bowie revealed he left the company.
“After 17 amazing years at SAS, I am about to move into an exciting new role in a different segment of the IT industry,” Bowie posted on LinkedIn.
“It has been a privilege working with a leader and pioneer in the Analytics and Artificial Intelligence space and seeing firsthand the social and business impact of our work.”
Acronis promotes ANZ boss Neil Morarji to lead APAC business
30 June
Security vendor Acronis promoted ANZ boss Neil Morarji to lead its Asia Pacific business as its new APAC general manager.
Morarji replaces APAC vice president Steve Goh, who left in March 2019 to join productivity software vendor Vantiq.
An Acronis spokesperson told CRN Morarji doesn’t directly succeed Goh as the company changed its leadership structure.
Nutanix appoints ANZ boss out of NetSuite
2 April
Nutanix named former NetSuite exec Lee Thompson as its new managing director for Australia and New Zealand.
Thompson replaces Jamie Humphrey, who left the HCI vendor in January to later join Rubrik earlier this month.
Based in Sydney, Thompson is tasked to bring in more customers and continue Nutanix’s expansion across Australia and New Zealand.
Meet Ingram Micro’s new ANZ boss
7 April
Tim Ament, a 23 year veteran of Ingram, replaced Felix Wong, who left the distributor in February.
The Californian has held a number of senior roles in the US including in vendor management, components, consumer and most recently in advanced solutions.
He said that the new challenge of running the ANZ business, his first role as a country head, will allow him to leverage that experience.
Fortinet taps ex-defence ops director to run local labs
7 April
Fortinet named Glenn Maiden director of threat intelligence at its FortiGuard Labs in Australia and New Zealand.
Maiden will be charged with overseeing the vendor’s cyber information collection and dissemination procedures.
Prior to joining Fortinet, he held senior positions at Cisco, the ATO, Lockheed Martin and Shearwater Solutions. Before this he spent 14 years at the Australian Department of Defence in the cyber security division, rising to the position of Director of Operations for the Defence Intelligence Security Group.
Zscaler hires new channel chief out of Telstra
9 April
Security vendor Zscaler named Foad Farrokhnia as its new head of channels for Australia and New Zealand.
Farrokhnia replaces Dilshan Sivalingam, who departed in September 2019 and later joined security awareness and training vendor KnowBe4.
Based in Melbourne, Farrokhnia is tasked to further develop and mature Zscaler’s channel ecosystem in ANZ, as well as growing its existing partner relationships.
Sharp names new ANZ boss
14 April
Printing, point-of-sale and commercial display vendor Sharp appointed Tim Ko as its new managing director for Australia.
Ko replaces Hitoshi Kagawa, who will be returning to Japan after close to three years in the role. Kagawa joined Sharp Corporation of Australia (SCA) in July 2017 after working at Sharp Brazil.
Kagawa said, “With Mr. Ko’s wealth of experience in corporate planning, management and marketing, I believe he will be able to bring Sharp Corporation of Australia to the next level.”
SwitchConnect appoints new channel chief
15 April
Australian cloud telephony and SIP trunking vendor SwitchConnect hired Paul Saba as its new channel director.
Saba was hired out of the financial services sector, last working at mortgage, commercial and asset finance aggregator FAST Group as partnership manager.
In his new role, Saba is tasked to manage SwitchConnect’s channel partners, including handling its existing partners as well as helping run campaigns to generate leads for partners.
5G Networks channel chief exits amid coronavirus uncertainty
16 April
5G Networks channel chief Nigel Burke departed the networking specialist some five months after joining, amid market uncertainty as a result of the global coronavirus pandemic.
The ASX-listed company said in a statement to CRN that its indirect channel would remain an important pillar of its growth strategy and that it intended to fill the role again permanently once the future of the COVID-19 impact was fully understood.
“Since joining 5GN, Mr Burke has been instrumental in helping to define and structure both the wholesale and channel programs and we thank him for his contribution to this outcome,” the statement read.
McAfee ANZ chief Gary Denman departs
16 April
McAfee ANZ vice president and managing director Gary Denman departed the security vendor to join Google Cloud.
A McAfee spokesperson confirmed with CRN that Denman left in January this year and that the company is still in the process of looking for a replacement.
The search went public in April with a job listing on LinkedIn.
Software vendor New Relic appoints first ANZ boss
17 April
Application performance management software vendor New Relic appointed Sharryn Napier as its first regional vice president for Australia and New Zealand.
Based in Sydney, Napier reports to New Relic APJ executive vice president and general manager Dmitri Chen, who had been directly managing ANZ before Napier’s appointment.
“This newly created role is recognition of ANZ’s importance to New Relic and we’re thrilled to have someone with Sharryn’s calibre and experience in our ranks,” Chen said. “She’s a strong, dynamic leader with an impressive track record and will no doubt drive exceptional growth for both our customers and the business.”
Security vendor vArmour hires new ANZ boss
20 April
Data centre and cloud security vendor vArmour has appointed Matt George as its new country manager for Australia and New Zealand.
George reports to APAC general manager Robert D’Amico, who had been directly running the vendor’s ANZ operations since joining the company in 2016.
George was hired out of Deloitte’s cloud engineering business, where he was a director within the Technology, Strategy and Transformation Practice since 2018.
DCI Data Centers names new leadership as it looks to the edge
20 April
DCI Data Centers named a new chief executive, Malcolm Roe, as it looks to expand operations.
The Sydney-based data centre operator was acquired by Brookfield Infrastructure in January 2019 and has operations in Adelaide and Sydney.
The new CEO said the backing of such an investor presented a good opportunity for growth.
Forescout names new ANZ boss
21 April
Device visibility and control vendor Forescout Technologies appointed Rohan Langdon as its new regional director for Australia and New Zealand.
Langdon replaces Terrie Anderson, who left in February to join RiskIQ as its APAC vice president.
In his new role, Langdon will focus on sales growth and customer engagement, as well as driving channel partnerships across ANZ.
Melbourne's Jasco Consulting appoints second CEO
22 April
Melbourne-based Microsoft partner Jasco Consulting promoted general manager Sue Vander as co-CEO alongside current CEO founder Jason McClintock.
Vander will focus on the company’s commercial, financial and operational aspects, while McClintock will focus on technology, innovation and business development.
McClintock said he was proud to work alongside someone with such great leadership skills and that he was excited to see where this strengthened leadership would take the company.
Lee Welch moves to APAC role at Ingram Micro Cloud
23 April
Ingram Micro Cloud ANZ director Lee Welch was promoted to a newly created APAC role to support the platform’s growth in the region.
Welch told CRN his current role would be backfilled and the company is on the lookout for a suitable candidate.
He will be based in Singapore and has been charged with managing Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India, Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia and the Philippines.
Qlik names Paul Leahy as Australia and New Zealand country manager
24 April
Business intelligence vendor Qlik promoted senior sales director Paul Leahy to lead the company in Australia and New Zealand following the exit of regional director Sharryn Napier in mid-April.
Named ANZ country manager, Leahy will be based in Melbourne and take responsibility for driving Qlik’s go-to-market strategy in ANZ. The executive joined Qlik in 2015 from Oracle, where he had most recently served as ACT general manager.
Leahy said he was delighted to take on the country manager role, the first time the vendor has used the title for the ANZ reason.
Infotrust expands Melbourne operation with new hire
24 April
Cyber security company InfoTrust expanded its leadership team in Melbourne with the appointment of Justin Flower as general manager for its southern region.
Flower will be responsible for building on current client relationships in Victoria while developing strategic initiatives for client acquisition.
He joins the managed services provider from Sophos where he most recently served as director for enterprise sales ANZ.
Cohesity names new ANZ Sales Director
27 April
Data management company Cohesity appointed Velo Petrov as regional sales director for Australia and New Zealand.
Based in Canberra, Cohesty said Petrov will be responsible for further developing and maturing the company’s market penetration among Australian federal government agencies, working in tandem with Cohesity’s robust partner ecosystem.
He will also be responsible for bolstering the company’s momentum among private and public sector enterprises in New Zealand.
CloudBlue taps YiLun Miao to lead APJ
27 April
CloudBlue promoted YiLun Miao to lead the company in the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) as general manager.
In a newly created role to support growth in the region, Miao told CRN his focus would broaden from technology and services to include sales and Go to Market strategy.
Miao moves from his current role as director solution consulting and pre sales for Asia Pacific and Japan.He will still be based in Sydney.
Rackspace's Darryn McCoskery joins Hostopia Australia
27 April
Cloud services and hosting provider Hostopia Australia hired Darryn McCoskery as its new general manager.
McCoskery replaces chief executive Terry Maiolo, who left the company in February after a three-year stint.
McCoskery joined the same month following his departure from Rackspace in December 2019, where he was general manager from 2017.
Infoblox appoints ANZ boss
30 April
Secure cloud networking vendor Infoblox appointed Matthew Hanmer as its new country manager and regional director for Australia and New Zealand.
Hanmer assumed the newly created role in April following a brief stint at AI and automation vendor Antworks as Asia Pacific vice president.
Based in Sydney, Hanmer will be responsible for sales efforts across ANZ, specifically to increase the adoption of Infoblox’s secure cloud-managed network services.
Outcomex appoints new managing director
4 May
Sydney-based integrator Outcomex promoted Michael van Zoggel to managing director as part of a shakeup of its management team.
Van Zoggel, who had been national sales manager since 2016, replaces Marco Delgado, who will assume the new role of chief executive officer.
The changes will see van Zoggel take charge of business operations, while Delgado focuses on technology innovation and business growth.
Cisco channel chief Tara Ridley departs, joins Salesforce
5 May
Cisco’s Australia and New Zealand channel chief Tara Ridley left Cisco to join Salesforce.
Ridley revealed the appointment on LinkedIn, assuming the role of vice president of alliances and channels for Australia and New Zealand.
She is tasked with leading the cloud vendor’s ANZ partner strategy and lead the growth of its enterprise, midmarket and SMB partner sales, account management and ecosystem development.
On 3 July Cisco confirmed to CRN that Luke Power had replaced Ridley as ANZ channel chief.
Gigamon names new ANZ country manager
12 May
Network visibility and analytics Gigamon has appointed George Tsoukas as its new country manager for Australia and New Zealand.
Tsoukas replaces Adam Gordon, who left the company in February to join Varonis, where he is currently the ANZ country manager.
Tsoukas joins from load balancing vendor Avi Networks, where he was its first ANZ regional vice president in 2018.
Huawei Australia names Theodore Shao as new enterprise boss
19 May
Huawei named Theodore Shao as head of its Enterprise Business Group.
Shao has been promoted to the position from his role as solution director for the enterprise group. The executive has held several roles at the company since joining in 2002, including state manager for Western Australia.
The appointment marks the first time Huawei Australia has had a locally based employee in the role. Shao will replace Colin Hu, who is understood to have exited the organisation.
Avaya appoints Sami Ammous as new APAC boss
20 May
Unified communications vendor Avaya has appointed Sami Ammous as its new vice president for East Asia and the Pacific.
Based in Singapore, Ammous leads the operations of Australia and New Zealand, as well as Southeast Asia, Japan and Korea. He reports directly to Avaya president Nidal Abou-Ltaif.
In his new role, Ammous is expected to consult organisations on their business processes and the communications requirements to deliver on them.
Optus hires new SMB boss out of Paypal Australia
26 May
Optus appointed Libby Roy as its new managing director for its SMB division, replacing Ben White.
White will continue managing Optus’ wholesale and satellite businesses, while also adding strategy to his remit.
Roy is responsible for driving sales, product development, marketing, service delivery and operations. She reports directly to Optus CEO Kelly Bayer Rosmarin.
NTT Australia CEO Steve Nola retires
27 May
NTT Australia has announced chief executive Steve Nola will retire from his role in September 2020 after 30 years in the IT industry.
The services giant is now on the hunt for Nola’s replacement in time for his departure.
NTT global CEO Jason Goodall said Nola as Australian CEO “has shown incredible insight and leadership over many years, as well as sustaining growth and profitability”.
F5 names new APAC channel boss
9 June
Application security vendor F5 tapped Edgar Dias to lead its channel and partnerships in Asia Pacific.
F5 said Dias would drive the company’s channel and partners strategy across the region and scale the company’s partner ecosystem.
Dias joined F5 in 2018 as VP for India and SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation). Prior to F5, he was MD of India and SAARC at ServiceNow and earlier, at Brocade Communications.
Security vendor ColorTokens names new ANZ boss
10 June
Zero-trust security vendor ColorTokens has appointed Elvis Jusic as its new regional director of sales for Australia and New Zealand
Jusic would be responsible for driving growth in the company’s markets in the region.
ColorTokens specialises in workload and endpoint security, featuring technology like software-defined micro-segmentation deep visibility solutions.
Veritec CEO Keiran Mott departs
10 June
The chief executive of Canberra-based Microsoft partner Veritec, Keiran Mott, will depart the company sometime this year.
Veritec has confirmed the move to CRN, saying that Mott will be taking a “well-deserved break and will seek out a new challenge”.
The company also confirmed the appointment of general manager for business applications Greg Mace as the company’s new interim CEO.
Telstra partner Calibre One names first new CEO in 20 years
11 June
Australian Telstra partner and three-time CRN Fast50 finalist Calibre One named Darren Gore as its first new chief executive in its 20 years of operations.
From July, Gore will assume the role that has been held by Steve Wemyss since the company was formed as GSoft in 1998 in Wemyss humble garage in Adelaide.
Gore, 32, takes on the chief executive title after serving for more than four years as the company’s chief financial officer. He officially joined Calibre One in 2016 when it merged with NexusTel, the telco he had joined as a business technology consultant a year prior.
VMware names new ANZ boss
15 June
Virtualisation vendor VMware appointed Brad Anderson as its new vice president and managing director for Australia and New Zealand.
Anderson replaces Alister Dias, who was promoted to APJ vice president for software defined data centre in April this year.
Anderson joined VMware out of IBM following a 15 year stint at the company, last serving as ANZ vice president of cloud and cognitive software.
OutSystems names new ANZ boss
16 June
App development vendor OutSystems appointed Paul Arthur as its regional vice president for Australia and New Zealand.
The newly-created role is based out of Sydney and will see Arthur report to OutSystems APAC vice president Mark Weaser.
OutSystems said the appointment comes in response to the increasing demand for application development and integration of core systems.
Leidos Australia names new CEO
18 June
Leidos Australia has named Paul Chase as its new chief executive following the forrmer RAAF enginee’s stint as acting CEO over the past three months.
A 22-year veteran of the company, Chase had held various program management positions and led multiple new business pursuits at Leidos.
The announcement comes after the government and intelligence tech services specialist confirmed the loss of longstanding local chief Christine Zeltz in March.
Infrastructure monitoring vendor LogicMonitor names new APAC channel chief
1 July
IT infrastructure monitoring software vendor LogicMonitor appointed Swapnil Shah as its new APAC alliances and channel manager.
Shah, who will be based in Sydney, was hired out of Infosys where he was an associate director for its ANZ business, specifically in its cloud, infrastructure and security services division
In his new role, Shah will oversee the region’s current channel partners and alliances, while also seeking new opportunities to support the company’s continued growth across Asia-Pacific.
