The Optimus G is LG's first big push into the high end smartphone market in Australia. Until now it has concentrated its efforts on the budget/prepaid market.
The phone itself is exclusive to Telstra's 4G network, and features a 4.7in IPS screen.
Inside the box is the phone, charger, ear buds, manual and a prepaid postage bag designed to make it easy to recycle your old phone.
The earbuds supplied with the phone look quite stylish from the side, with flattened cables to reduce tangles and extra rubber bits.
However the earbuds are somewhat polarising thanks to the prominent LG logo on the outer edge. Our quick straw poll around the office couldn't find anyone who would actually wear them in public.
The phone itself is gorgeous; effectively a supercharged sibling of the LG-made Nexus 4. It has Gorilla glass on both the front and rear, and a 13mp camera.
The phone is quite minimalist in design, with volume rocker and micro-sim slot on the right hand side.
As is the way with non-fruity handsets, the Optimus G uses a micro-USB port for charging.
The audio output jack is on the top of the handset. You can also see the forward facing camera in the left of shot.
