iPhone 5: thinner, lighter, faster - smaller dock
Upon its arrival, the iPhone 5 held very few surprises, despite several new innovations, thanks to a wave of leaks and reports prior to its launch.
Apple said it had "set a new bar" with the new smartphone.
The iPhone 5 most significantly ditched the proprietary 30-pin port for a new 'Lightning' 8-pin dock connector, annoying previous iPhone customers who were no longer able to use already-owned accessories. Apple included a new processor, with the A6 chip 22 percent smaller in size but two times faster graphics and apps-wise than its A5 predecessor. It slimmed the phone down by 18 percent, made it 20 percent lighter, and bigger with a 4in screen over the iPhone 4s' 3.5in display.
Design-wise, the new iPhone comes in a two-tone design, in either black and slate or white and aluminium, with a metal back and made of glass and aluminium.
It's on sale for $799 for the 16GB model, $899 for 32GB and $999 for the 64GB model.
