Lenovo's latest offering, the Carbon X1 carbon-fibre ultrabook, was the first to use carbon-fibre as its shell over magnesium alley or aluminium. Beck said the number one cause of damage to a laptop screen is "back-damage", from the lid of the laptop, not to the screen itself. Beck dropped a snooker ball onto each of the materials to demonstrate why Lenovo chose to go with carbon-fibre.
