What’s hot in converged systems? We ask Managed IT
Michael Wates

What converged or hyperconverged infrastructure solutions do you specialise in?

We specialise in hyper-converged infrastructure from Nutanix.

When did your company first get involved in this area?

We needed to upgrade our data centre. I have been following Dheeraj Pandey’s journey with Nutanix since 2013 and wanted to incorporate software-defined storage for our next upgrade. We went with Nutanix in March 2015 and were up and running in May 2015.

Which credentials do you have that apply to converged or hyperconverged infrastructure?

Nutanix Managed Cloud Service Provider.

Who are your main distributors for converged or hyperconverged infrastructure?

Exclusive Networks.

Have you heard of any cool or interesting recent developments in this space?

The Commonwealth Treasury Department’s transition to Nutanix’s hyper-converged infrastructure is symbolic of how trusted converged infrastructure has become for critical and sensitive workloads.

Can you tell us about a recent deployment you have done?

Our major focus has been on continuous improvement to Managed IT’s own Nutanix hyper-converged platform, which we call Managed Cloud. Offerings under this brand are generating many discussions with customers.

What is driving customers’ converged or hyperconverged infrastructure projects?

It is not so much about lower administration overheads and [client] motivation is not just about creating a converged architecture. A common project justification is in line with trying to create an environment that’s easier to manage and is built around intelligence.

Converged / hyperconverged infrastructure is...?

Mainstream and will enable constant improvement.
