What SaaS brands and related services do you specialise in?
We specialise in cloud-based inventory and professional services, specifically DEAR Cloud Inventory Management, and Accelo for professional services. We also provide Xero
for cloud accounting. We provide software implementation, from workshopping and identifying business processes right through to system setup, training and ongoing support.
When did your company first get involved in this area?
We were never a traditional MSP – we’ve been in SaaS since our inception in 2013. We began specialising in DEAR and Accelo at end of 2014, and we changed our name from Ocius Digital to Waypoint around Christmas last year.
What credentials and certifications does your business have that apply to SaaS delivery?
Waypoint is DEAR’s largest partner globally, in terms of number of installations, by a big margin. We are one of only three certified Accelo partners in Australia. With Xero, we’re one of seven Preferred Cloud Integrators.
Do you use a distributor, and if so, who?
Ingram Micro for things like tablets for warehouses, but not very often because we’re focussed on SaaS.
What are the coolest or most interesting new developments in SaaS?
Interconnectivity between cloud platforms and standards like EDI allow companies to be so streamlined. It gives relatively small businesses huge opportunities to scale. They can have ecommerce websites integrating with an inventory platform and linked to third-party warehouse systems.
Can you tell us about a recent major or particularly interesting SaaS deployment?
One recent client sells sporting goods in the UK, Australia and NZ. They’ve got ecommerce websites and outsourced warehouses in all three countries, and it’s all been operated from Australia.
What factors are driving customer interest in SaaS?
For us, specifically, I think the fact that these applications are relatively low-cost, subscription-based solutions means that clients are willing to spend more on a specialist to get things right at the start, rather than trying to do it themselves. They understand the huge opportunities if they get it right.
SaaS is…
The most exciting small business technology space to operating in at the moment.
