Which PC solutions do you deploy?
All of these, still mainly desktop computers to businesses but trending to small and ultra small form factor. Macs are on uptrend but still only 20 percent of our market. Tablet and hybrid are growing but still small.
When did your company first get involved in PCs?
We started reselling PCs in December 2005.
What are your PC credentials?
We have lots of qualifications with vendors such as Microsoft, Apple and Cisco; however, apart from TAFE Certificate III or IV in IT, none of our staff are tertiary qualified. We would love to see the market more regulated to stop cowboy service to clients.
Who are your main PC distributors?
Ingram Micro and Synnex.
Any cool or interesting recent PC technology is occupying your thoughts?
Ultra small form factor such as NUC machines; huge battery-life devices.
Can you tell us about a recent PC deployment you have done?
We do many deployments, most recent this week was refit of hardware for local tool shop including server, network and workstations. During floods 2012 in Bundaberg, we did a huge number of refits to affected businesses from ground up.
What is driving customers’ PC projects?
Reliability and performance, the same factors as in the past.
PCs are… ?
Likely to become less diversified and more cookie-cutter. People are less focused on why it does something and more on the fact that it just works. Look at phones – 10 years ago the market was highly diversified, now 95 percent are either iPhone or Samsung. This will also happen to the PC market.
