Partnerships are the key to maximising the value of storage solutions

The volume of data that businesses create, store and use is growing at an compounding rate of about 23% each year. That translates to a doubling every four years or so. As organisations collect, create and use data in new ways to power their business activities they must ensure their storage strategy can keep up. The digitisation of every process is well under way in every organisation ranging from government agencies through to commercial enterprises of every size. Without a fit-for-purpose storage strategy, those initiatives are doomed to fail.

As Del Prete, the President of research firm IDC puts it, “Data is not like oil. Data is like water. It is essential for life, and it needs to be clean and accessible to all.”

Organisations are struggling to maximise the business value they extract from their data. The right technology can support data driven digital experiences and accelerate the automation of processes and systems and run sophisticated and secure workloads.

The widespread use of multi-cloud technologies has added to the complexity organisations face. While the volume and velocity of data creation has accelerated, the number of different places that data is stored has increased. IDC’ research found almost 93% of organisations have more than three cloud offerings in their environment. Those data silos and the different operating models of cloud providers are creating significant cost and complexity. And the rise of generative AI means ensuring data is accessible, so large language models have access to the most recent data, is critical to ensure new applications deliver the best possible answers to queries.

Understanding what the right storage solution for any given workload and process requires expertise, experience and careful planning. A key to this is finding the right hardware and software partners, and service providers that can help design, implement and optimise the best possible solution.

Dell Technologies, through the Dell Technologies Partner Program and its Partner First Strategy for Storage, enables partners to help customers in their data and infrastructure modernisation journey. The two programs strengthen the collaboration between the Dell sales teams and valued partners. The Partner First Strategy for Storage drives for collaboration between Dell Technologies and our partners when solving infrastructure modernisation project across the storage portfolio for our customers. This applies across the entire Dell Technologies storage portfolio, with a focus on jointly solving our customer problems, as well as driving greater profitability for our partners and while providing greater predictability.

With the demands on organisations’ storage needs continually growing, finding the right partner, that’s backed with industry-leading support is critical. Storage is no longer just about predicting capacity needs and adding some drives to the mix each year. It requires a robust strategy and careful planning to meet the needs of new applications such as generative AI, flexibility to cater for more data sources and stronger security in a world where risks and threats are constantly changing and escalating.

By working alongside Dell Technologies, partners have access to a global sales team with broad and deep experience across every industry vertical. Partners also have access to market-leading training across enterprise, hyper converged, unstructured and software defined storage as well as cyber resilient data protection.

When the era of big data emerged, Gartner defined the challenges using three Vs – volume, velocity and variety. Those principles are still true but all three are orders of magnitude greater than when those principles were articulated. Designing, implementing and refining a storage strategy that meets today’s needs and can adapt to tomorrow’s demands requires broad and deep experience.

Partners working with Dell Technologies through the Dell Technologies Partner Program and Partner First Strategy for Storage have access to world-leading expertise and experience. This enables partners to deliver hardware, software and services that enable customers to achieve the highest possible return on their storage investment.

These programs create a perfect storm where partners can achieve great profitability while their customers achieve the greatest possible value from their storage solutions.
