CRN chats with Tom Piotrowski, managing director at Unixpac.
Your job title?
Managing director, Unixpac.
What do you like about your job?
Discovering new technologies from start-up companies before everyone else does. Legato Networks, Raptor Systems, Pure Software, Cobalt and TippingPoint are some of the vendors we have aligned with before they became rich and famous.
What do you dislike about your job?
That best things do not last forever. I still consider myself an optimist though.
Your strangest job?
Lawn mowing at Manchester United stadium in the wet English summer when the grass never stopped growing.
Your biggest mistake?
‘Supersizing’ myself at a certain part of my life. Thank God I am back to normal.
Favourite superstar?
Michael Caine.
Favourite pastime?
The very last physical thing I have done: sailing, scuba diving, racing bicycles — I just completed another time trial.
Favourite food?
Gelato ice-cream, lots of it.
What are you reading?
It’s Not About the Bike by Lance Armstrong.
What are you listening to?
Contemporary jazz — Acoustic Alchemy at present.
