Intel Australia has announced the promotion of Garry Cheung to channel account manager. The new role will see him implement Intel channel programs in Victoria, South Australia and New Zealand.
Cheung previously managed the Australian sites of Intel’s international network and infrastructure requirements.
“I look forward to joining Intel’s reseller channel operations team and working closely with our channel customers in Australia and New Zealand. There are huge opportunities for the local channel to ramp Intel’s 45nm processor technology across desktop, server and mobile,” said Cheung.
Intel sees Cheung’s appointment as timely given the recent rollout of Intel’s 45nm processor product range.
“This year, we are very excited about our 45nm product ramp. Garry’s background in the IT industry and within Intel places him in the ideal position to support our resellers and customers in the channel account manager role,” said Thomas Tapsas, national sales manager of the Reseller Channel Organisation at Intel.
Prior to joining Intel, Cheung held a position as an IT field engineer and rollout technician with the NSW Attorney General’s department, supporting a network of more than 4000 users.
Cheung’s career has also included a stint as a USB HR-GSD software application analyst with UBS Walburg Investment Bank and a position as senior technical analyst with Ozemail Internet Pty Ltd.
Currently completing a Bachelor of Computer Science with the University of New England, he already holds a diploma of Information Technology Business Systems/Software Development from Spherion Education as well as an A+ Core Hardware and Operating Systems certificate.
