A big surge in demand for Sun Microsystems' software and hardware coupled with fast growing software development revenues helped Victorian-based reseller Remora Technologies
gain entry to the exclusive CRN Fast50 club this year.
Remora mainly services government, utilities and education companies in Victoria and the ACT.
One key statistic showed that the company had a marked increase in the average size of its clients, according to managing director Rob Silver (pictured left next to James Cave).
"We have moved from SMEs to the higher end of town," he said.
These larger companies helped to drive demand for Remora's recently launched software development services, or "writing software that does not exist", as Silver describes it.
Remora also sells the operational and data intelligence product Splunk which saw a sharp rise in sales over the period. Also up were sales of Sun servers and other hardware.
Silver expects the company to grow by between 150 and 200 percent over financial year 2011 but admits growth will be a challenge to manage. "I'd like to see 200 percent but the growing pains might prevent us," he says.
No doubt the biggest event of the year for Remora was the acquisition of Sun by Oracle. The deal could not have worked out better for Remora, Silver says.
"The implications for us are absolutely fantastic," he says. "We have really enjoyed the transition. This creates a new impetus for growth of the company."
