Polycom has partnered with unified communication resellers Nallawilli Technology and CommuniCloud to provide a range of video, web and audio conferencing to indigenous and socially disadvantaged communities across Australia.

Nallawilli Technology chief executive Roderick McLeod said education, health and employment training services would be among the community projects to benefit from this collaboration.

The main objective of the program, McLeod said, was to help disadvantaged communities to connect easily with the local government, community organisations and even the private sector using secure technology such as video, web and audio conferencing.

“We met with Polycom in May and told them about our ideas and came up with a collaborative approach along with CommuniCloud. The initiative is known as the Community Connect program,” he told CRN.

“Community Connect will invest in existing infrastructure such as community health centres, education institutions and community organisations with collaboration technology from Nallawilli Technology, CommuniCloud, and Polycom. Community members can also connect using existing technology available to them such as PCs, laptops, tablets or smartphones,” Polycom said in a statement.

McLeod said the program is currently undergoing a trial with an organisation that deals with drug and alcohol abuse in Hobart.

Nallawilli, which was established in 2009, provides a range of collaboration products and services which includes audio, web and video conferencing, virtual meeting rooms and webinars. It has offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart.

CommuniCloud is a conference service provider that provides audio, web and video collaboration services.
