Dicker Data names new CIO

Long-time Dicker Data consultant Ian Welch has been appointed chief information officer at the distributor.

Welch spent more than 10 years consulting to Dicker Data in various role before joining the distributor’s team in 2013. The distie’s chief executive David Dicker said Welch had a “deep understanding” of the business.

Welch will become an executive director on the Dicker Data board, with the appointment taking place immediately. He was Dicker Data’s "general manager – IT" before today’s promotion.

This is the second time Dicker Data has added to its board since the company floated in January 2011.

The distributor launched its Cloudportal marketplace last month, which resellers can use to manage subscriptions from various vendors, including APC, Cisco, Fujitsu, Lenovo, HP, Intel, Citrix, Microsoft Azure and IBM Softlayer.

This week Dicker Data announced its public float and Express Data projects were complete. The company has successfully completed a placement to raise $40.25 million.
